I recently had a chance to revisit the Wine Bottle Project in Columbus, OH, and want to share the “after” photos here on the web. The remaining details of their kitchen renovation were completed with stunning results. Glass tile completes the backsplash. Beautiful art glass pendant lights top off the window openings. Very cool place. Thanks P & J!

We at counterevolution are thrilled to be working with Dan Harrison and the staff at Harrison Construction in Marietta, Ohio on the restoration of an historical estate in Parkersburg, West Virginia. These two vanity tops were recently installed in the Caretaker’s home on the property. They both feature a semi-flush mount oval vessel sink with an acid stained finish. The tops are permanently sealed for stain-proof performance and extremely low maintenance. Kitchen countertops are in the works for the Caretaker’s house as well as the historic farmhouse on the property. Harrison Construction is a full service contractor dedicated to sustainable materials and practices. Their building products showroom called The Material Difference was recently outfitted with solar panels on the roof that provide 80% of Harrison’s electrical requirements for the showroom, offices, and shop space.

This Centerville, OH tri-level had the 1970’s narrow galley kitchen, but not anymore. The wall separating the family room and the kitchen was removed in this remodel designed and constructed by counterevolution. Talk about green twice: These homeowners were concerned about cash, and sustainability. The most of the original cabinetry was reused with new custom moldings added. The 2″ thick concrete countertops are like the icing on this earth friendly, wallet friendly renovation.

This fabulous table fabricated for Rob and Bev in Englewood, Ohio that’s what. After shopping all over town and online for a low table that would fit into their landscape these homeowners chose concrete and counterevolution. The finished Max Agg 42″ table top sits on a concrete tube base cast in an unpolished version of the same concrete. “You knocked this one out of the park” said Rob. “It’s perfect” Bev added, “and it didn’t come from WalMart.”

Not just an unforgettable band from the eighties, but the chatter on the street in the Short North area of Columbus, OH. That chatter comes from our canine friends real close to the street. counterevolution built these outdoor concrete dog watering bowls for the Northstar Cafe on High Street, and Third & Hollywood Bar and Grill at, well Third & Hollywood in the Grandview Heights section of town. Now all the poochies can sing along “IIII….. want water”

This old dresser was elegantly re-purposed as a vanity base. The concrete countertop is 1-1/2″ thick of our 10,000 PSI concrete mix with an Antique Amber acid stain finish. Our permanent sealer was used to protect this quasi-heirloom. Nobody likes stains in the powder room.

Here it is. The Victorian Village Remodel is installed. These customers collected and crushed their own wine bottles to highlight this stunning kitchen. The tops are 2″ thick and filled with recycled glass. The island top weighs in at 587# and the factory built cabinetry is supporting it wonderfully with no brackets on the overhangs. CounterEvolution’s permanent sealer makes these tops as easy on the maintenance as they are on the eyes. By the way, you don’t have to crush your own glass, unless you just want to.

Third & Hollywood Bar and Grill in the Grandview Heights Neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio commissioned these tables for their outdoor dining area. This is the latest eatery in the Northstar Cafe family. They chose to use a maximum aggregate exposure in a black concrete. The look is repeated on the polished concrete block walls that partition the restaurants high-style interior. Many original features of the building were preserved. A brick archway that had been a doorway in the carriage repair garage in the 19th century has been fitted with custom wine storage racking. A very cool place. My hat’s off to Kevin and Andrew.

Let CounterEvolution help you keep the “Green” in recycled glass countertops. Buy Local! National brand recycled glass countertops only offer a few glass blends, have to be shipped long distances, and dealers are hard to find. These blends were developed for a home restoration project in Victorian Village in Columbus, Ohio. “The clients collected and crushed all of the wine bottle glass for this one.” reports Jeff Robinson, owner of CounterEvolution. “They’ve got a real sense of ownership in this project already.” Click the Sample images and watch for the project photos soon.
